Hi I am trying to setup Remote Desktop Web Connection the host machine is running XP Pro. I have downloaded software an run setup to install the activeX control and sample web page. I checked allow users to connect remotely to this computer, I also forwarded two ports on my router 3389 the one remote desk top needs and the one I specified in the TCP Port field in IIS I also opened this port in firewall. I have not had any success in connecting to my pc I have tested it by opening IE on my other pc and typing http://ipaddress:port/tsweb/ but have not been able to connect. I am not sure what I am missing here but any help would be appreciated Thanks Ted

You should use Remote Desktop connection using the RDP utility and not the web browser. On XP go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communication > Remote Desktop Connection and then type in your IP or hostname.
Assuming you have port 3389 forwarded to the appropriate computer (Windows XP Pro or Windows Server 2003). You dont need IIS for this but if you are using Windows Firewall be sure to allow RDP. Also, assuming you have setup the web based RDP page correctly you should not have to type the port number into the address. A user would go to your site and download an active-x control for RDP which automatically sets the port...I have a feeling your page is not set up right so try connecting without the website as stated above. -------------------- Steve -- MCP, A+, I-Net +, Blackberry

Try following these steps:
http://www.petri.co.il/install_remote_desk..._windows_xp.htm But why would you want to go through all that setup. Remote Desktop Connection client comes with all Windows XP and Vista installs. It is also available as a free download for Windows 2000/Me/98/95: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en So you can use RDP client from any computer in the world - no need to use the web based setup. You can even do it on a MAC OS: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts...tedesktopclient -------------------- Steve -- MCP, A+, I-Net +, Blackberry
